National Merit Scholars & National Hispanic Scholars Recognized

TOMBALL - Tomball ISD was well-represented in the National Merit Scholarship Program as Tomball Memorial High School, Tomball High School and Tomball Star Academy students were recognized for their exceptional work in the classroom and beyond. 

Tomball ISD had four students recognized as Finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program. All will earn the prestigious Merit Scholar® title and will be included in the awarded scholarships worth more than $32 million.

19 TISD students were honored as a Commended Scholars in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Commended Scholars placed among the top 50,000 of over 1.6 million students who entered the 2020 competition by taking the 2018 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®).

15 TISD students were selected as 2020 National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP) Scholar recipients. The NHRP is recognizing approximately 5,000 Hispanic/Latino students selected from a pool of over 400,000 students who took the 2018 PSAT/NMSQT/PAA™. These students have a junior year cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and are designated as a Scholar.

Founded in 1908, Tomball ISD now encompasses 83 square miles in northwest Harris County and southwest Montgomery County, and is located approximately 30 miles from downtown Houston.
