Welcome to Physics!

My Background
I am excited to be teaching Physics and AP Physics 1 again this year at Tomball Star Academy. I have taught high school science for 17 years, Prior to that, I had a 13-year career at technology companies in the Dallas and Houston areas.
I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from Texas A&M University, and a Master of Education degree in Science Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Texas at Arlington. I have Texas teacher certification in all sciences for grades 4-12. For the benefit of my students, I'm always learning new ways of teaching and improving learning. This summer I attended the Mitchell Institute of Physics Educator Preparation, working with approximately 50 high school Physics teachers and with the leading Texas A&M Physics and Astronomy professors. We learned about the latest developments in astronomy and physics, professors' teaching methods and expectations, and engaging activities that we can use in our classrooms this year.
Our Physics and AP Physics courses this year will be a combination of inquiry-based learning with frequent labs, project-based learning, and activities that help students learn Physics concepts more easily. Announcements and assignments are posted on my Schoology class sites. Students and parents can also sign up for Remind messages. Just refer to the annoucement on the course Schoology pages. Please also feel free to e-mail me anytime with questions.
